▶️ Introducing ChatGPT

The Chief Decision Scientist at Google, Cassie Kozyrkov, demystifies ChatGPT — the fascinating new application of GANs (Generative Adversarial Networks) that has been generating a lot of buzz in the AI community.

“You could ask ChatGPT what it would do if it could fly, and it might respond with something like “I would soar through the skies like a majestic eagle, feeling the wind beneath my wings and the freedom of flight.” This type of response would be impossible for a human to come up with, but it’s perfectly within the realm of possibility for ChatGPT.”

“As Google reportedly works full steam ahead on new AI products, we might get an early look at them at Google's annual developer conference, I/O, which is expected to take place in May.”

▶️ Scientists Increasingly Can't Explain How AI Works

The people who develop AI are increasingly having problems explaining how it works and determining why it has the outputs it has. Deep neural networks (DNN)—made up of layers and layers of processing systems trained on human-created data to mimic the neural networks of our brains—often seem to mirror not just human intelligence but also human inexplicability.

This image was generated by Midjourney, an artificial intelligence currently ranked as one of the most powerful AI art generators from text. This article aims to answer the question: How does this image generator AI work? What are their advantages and disadvantages?

So the natural question is how ChatGPT gets there and where these fantastic abilities come from. In this material, Yao Fu from the University of Edinburgh dissects the emergent abilities and traces them to their sources.

💡 Learning Interpretability Tool

The Learning Interpretability Tool (LIT) is an open-source platform for visualizing and understanding NLP models.
