Mission Innovation: one week in Israel

What an inspiring week in Israel!

With 9 million population, the country has 7000+ start-ups, 97 of which are Unicorns. And the correlation is not direct, but they also have 12 Nobel prize winners.

As part of the Bulgarian delegation, we were privileged to meet the local innovation ecosystem. We gained valuable insights and lessons and had the chance to network with leading entrepreneurs.

Overview of the week

16 companies from the ICT sectors - cloud and mobile technologies, fintech, cybersecurity, digital healthcare, agri-tech and digital agriculture were part of the Bulgarian small and medium enterprises promotion agency (BSMEPA ) trade mission that visited several cities in Israel, led by BSMEPA Executive Director Boyko Takov.

The agenda included bilateral meetings with Israeli companies and investors in Tel Aviv, Haifa and Jerusalem. We visited local incubators and accelerators, the European Innovation Hub in Tel Aviv and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Tel Aviv.

"A Business Forum with bilateral meetings with Israeli business representatives was also held on 16 March, with the special participation of Minister of Innovation and Growth Alexander Pulev, who is visiting the country.

The Bulgarian companies met with dozens of potential Israeli partners during the business forum. They had the opportunity to visit FinTech-Aviv - the largest FinTech event in the country, which brings together start-up companies, investors and corporations seeking cooperation, collaboration and innovation in financial technology."
